演題:Physics of neutrino interactions around 1-10 GeV
日時:8月3日(金) 13:00~
場所:工学研究院 総合研究棟 W701室
Neutrinooscillation physics has been entered in the precision era. In
this context accelerator-based neutrino experiments need a reduction
of systematic errors to the level of a few percent. Today one of the
most important sources of systematic errors are neutrino-nucleus cross
sections which in the hundreds-MeV to few-GeV energy region are known
with a precision not exceeding 10-20%. In this talk, I will review the
main processes of neutrino-nucleus interactions in this energy region,
and describe state-of-the-art theoretical work and open questions.

演題:Observation of a Significant Excess of Electron-Like Events in the MiniBooNE Short-Baseline Neutrino Experiment
日時:8月3日(金) 15:00~
場所:工学研究院 総合研究棟 W701室
TheMiniBooNEexperiment at Fermilabreports results from an analysis of
electron neutrino (νe) appearance data from 1.3 × 1021 protons on target
(POT) in neutrino mode, an increase of approximately a factor of two
over previously reported results (PRL110(2013)161801). A νe
charged-current quasi-elastic (CCQE) event excess of 381.2 ± 85.2
events (4.5 σ) is observed in the energy range 200 < EνQE < 1250 MeV.
Combining these data with the electron anti-neutrino (νe)
appearance data from 1.1 × 1021 POT in antineutrino mode, a total νe
plus νe CCQE event excess of 460.5 ± 95.8 events (4.8 σ) is
observed. If interpreted in a standard two-neutrino oscillation model
(νμ → νe), the best oscillation fit to the excess has a probability
of 20.1% while the background-only fit has a χ2-probability of 5 × 10-7
relative to the best fit. All of the major backgrounds are constrained
by in-situ event measurements, so non-oscillation explanations would
need to invoke new anomalous background processes. Although the data
are fit with a standard oscillation model, other models may provide
better fits to the data.
