物理工学ユニットでは、以下のように談話会を開催します。

講師：Professor Hyunsoo Yang (National University of Singapore)

演題：Spin-Orbit Technologies: From Magnetic Memory to Terahertz Generation

日時：3月16日（金）10：30～

場所：総合研究棟W202

Spintronic devices utilize an electric current to alter the state of a magnetic material and thus find great applications in magnetic memory. Over the last decade, spintronic research has focused largely on techniques based on spinorbit coupling, such as spin‐orbit torques (SOTs), to alter the magnetic state.
The phenomenon of spin‐orbit coupling in magnetic heterostructures was also recently used to generate terahertz emission and thus bridge the gap between spintronics and optoelectronics research.
I will introduce the basic concepts of SOTs, the latest trends in SOT research, such as the exploration of novel material systems like topological insulators and twodimensional materials to improve the operation efficiency.

スピン軌道相互作用や、スピントランスファートルクを利用したスピントロニクスデバイスの基礎から、テラヘルツ発生などの応用まで、分かりやすくご講演いただく予定です。
